Elevate your organization by connecting to the data in your community, region or state through the Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship.
Micro data
Unlike many recognized economic statistics derived from government data, YourEconomy Time Series (YTS) data is taken from a private data source (Infogroup USA) that is updated each year and sold to businesses and marketing firms for B2B commercial and research purposes. This micro data allows for some access to individual company information because that information is self-reported and not subject to the same confidentiality restrictions. YTS provides a very efficient sorting system allowing users to identify companies by unique characteristics like location, industry and business size, and then provides access to the contact information for individual businesses for the current year.
Business Profiles and Development Trends
The Institute provides data-related insights of the business profile for a region to showcase the areas unique business activity and how it determines what types of businesses should be targeted for services within the region. Local economic development professionals can diversify their markets, target growth opportunities and tailor their business development services based on current and anticipated needs.
We also share national, state, regional and local economic data to compare business development trends that inform stakeholders and influence strategic plans.
Data-driven Workshops
Executive Director Mark Lange facilitates small group workshops for area economic development organizations to help them identify high potential and high performing companies in their areas. The workshops encourage best practice sharing from participants that is data-driven and can be taken back to their organizations and communities.
